Question: What is the difference between a true professional dryer and a standard dryer?

Answer this Question(1 answers) Ask a Question

Many dryers now have the description 'professional' or 'salon' in their product names, but not all are genuine professional products. True professional dryers have several distinctive features and are developed to withstand the rigor of constant salon use.

True professional dryers have an AC motor. This is a motor with a longer life than consumer (non-salon) dryers. The design of the body with its narrow barrel nozzle combined with the AC motor give these dryers a faster airflow.

These dryers often have a lower wattage output than some consumer dryers (e.g. 1200W, 1400W), however, due to their design and the motor, they dry very efficiently at these lower temperatures and are therefore kinder to your hair.

True professional dryers also have a true cold shot (as opposed to 'cool'). This sets the style even better than the standard 'cool' shot.
