What happened? any warranty?

I bought a Vidal Sassoon 1875 Ion Select within the past year. Recently it shorted out and when turned on only the orange decorative lights at the base end of the dryer light up...no blower at all. Can you tell me why this happened?(this hasn' thappened to me in many, many years!). Susan swz@nycap.rr.com 518-237-6662
