Back to: Home Hair Dryer FAQWhat is the difference between a true professional dryer and a standard dryer? Many dryers now have the description 'professional' or 'salon' in their product names, but not all are genuine professional products. True professional dryers have several distinctive features and are developed to withstand the rigor of constant salon use. True professional dryers have an AC motor. This is a motor with a longer life than consumer (non-salon) dryers. The design of the body with its narrow barrel nozzle combined with the AC motor give these dryers a faster airflow. These dryers often have a lower wattage output than some consumer dryers (e.g. 1200W, 1400W), however, due to their design and the motor, they dry very efficiently at these lower temperatures and are therefore kinder to your hair. True professional dryers also have a true cold shot (as opposed to 'cool'). This sets the style even better than the standard 'cool' shot. What is the cool shot for? Cool shot is used to set the style in place at the end of drying / styling. What do I use my concentrator nozzle for? The nozzle attachment is used to concentrate and direct the air, giving greater control and faster airflow. The narrower the vent on the nozzle, the faster the airflow. Concentrator nozzles are ideal for creating smooth, sleek styles. What are the removable rear filters for? To maintain optimum performance and prolong the life of your dryer, the rear filter should be kept free of dust & hairs etc. Some dryers have removable rear filters making this cleaning job easier. How do I use the diffuser that came with my hairdryer? A diffuser is an attachment used by hairdressers to create curl, body and texture. Ideal for naturally curly, permed or wavy hair. It is not suitable for very short hair, unless it has soft grippy fingers. Volumizing diffusers have long 'fingers' that direct the heat to the roots to create extra volume. Straightening diffuser (or concentrator) attachments detangle and smooth wavy, curly or frizzy hair. All diffuser attachments should be used on the low heat setting unless instructions state otherwise. My dryer has a switch for voltages. Where do I use the 230/240V and where do I use 110/210V? Hairdryers should be used with the 110/210V setting in US/Canada and 230/240V setting in UK & Mainland Europe. Can I use my dryer/styler etc abroad? Check the rating plate on the product - if '230-240V' is mentioned, then yes. If only 110/120V is mentioned only, then no.
